He first appeared in Duelist Kingdom (Kingdom Arc), in a duel with Kaiba Seto, who interrupted Yugi just as he had collected all 10 Star Chips and was about to head to Pegasus Castle.
At the time, having three powerful Blue-Eyes White Dragons was already unusual, but the fusion summoned Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Since direct attacks on players were not possible at the time, it may have been more useful to have one Blue-Eyes with a high attack power than three Blue-Eyes. In that sense, an attack power of 4500 is overwhelming.
In response, Yami Yugi blocked the attack with the standard combo of Kuriboh and multiplication, then fused it with Mammoth Graveyard, and then used a magic arrow combo to fuse Mammoth Graveyard into Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, successfully weakening it with a somewhat forceful setup.
In the end, Yugi was set to win, but Seto Kaiba stepped back depending on his life points, threatening to jump off Pegasus Castle if they reached zero.
Yami Yugi tried to do it, but his partner Yugi Muto stopped him. It was a memorable scene when he called off the attack and Kaiba Seto won.
To be honest, I thought Kaiba Seto's methods were dirty, but I was also able to see his unwavering determination to win.

He appears in various important scenes throughout the story afterwards, but my favorite scene is when Kaiba Seto, who reunited with Atem during the Memory Arc, uses it against Zork.
