The reason and thoughts behind Tremor's commitment to the original "first generation"

Introduction: About our commitment

Since its release in 1999, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game (OCG) has continued to be loved around the world.
Our store, Tremor, mainly carries cards that appeared in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and anime, which ran from 1999 to 2004.

Why stick to the original work?
It is filled with the owner's own experiences and the charm of card games of that time.

Original story and anime works with Yugi Muto as the main character

The "original works" that we handle refer to the following two works:

Based on the manga "Yu-Gi-Oh!"

This is a manga by Kazuki Takahashi, and the main character is Yugi Muto.
After solving the Millennium Puzzle, Yami Yugi (Atem) awakened and various duels unfolded.

Anime "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters"

This anime aired from 2000 to 2004 and is based on the original manga, focusing on card game (duel) scenes.
The anime also aired original stories, focusing on the Kingdom arc, Battle City arc, and King's Memory arc, as well as the Noa arc, KC Grand Prix arc, and Doma arc.

Key Takeaways

Generally, we do not carry cards from series after "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX" (5D's, ZEXAL, ARC-V, etc.).
However, due to purchasing reasons, we may receive stock, and in those cases we may offer it in the form of original packs, lucky bags, or bulk sales.

The owner is from the real-time generation

Now, I, the manager of Tremor, was born in 1989.
When I was a kid, the things that were popular were, of course, Yu-Gi-Oh, but also Pokemon, Digimon, Mini 4WD, Tamagotchi, and Game Boy.
These are all toys and content that are still incredibly popular today.
Looking back, I realize that I was truly blessed with a blessed environment, but as a child I wasn't able to shop or play freely, so now that I'm an adult and those restrictions are gone, it has become my driving force in running this store.

Of course, I also experienced the boom of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters in real time.

Watching cartoons on Saturday morning
Bring cards with your friends and duel after school.
The excitement you feel when you buy a pack and draw a rare card...
At the time, the actual product was still readily available in stores.
There was also information circulating about a "search method" where you rub the pack or find a misalignment in the printing to find a rare card inside!
It's strange, since it wasn't the era when information comes in through social media like it is today.

I still vividly remember the excitement of those days.

I also had a STARTER BOX which contained an early Blue-Eyes White Dragon, which is now an extremely expensive card.
I also have fond memories of it coming with duel chips to match the Kingdom version, and a calculator for calculating life points.

I never thought Blue Eyes would be so expensive.
There weren't that many sleeves back then, and most importantly I was a kid so I didn't care about the condition of the cards.
I used it in duels until it was completely worn out, and then it disappeared somewhere as I grew stronger.
I have sometimes thought that if I had kept it in good condition, I could have sold it for a higher price (laughs).

This passion and affection unique to the generation that lived through that time is the origin of our store.

The duel rules were easy to understand.

I believe the appeal of the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG lies in the simplicity of its rules.

At the time, the focus was on basic strategies such as sacrificial summons, fusion summons, and equip spells.
The flow of phases such as the "battle phase" and "main phase" is simple and easy to understand, so even children were able to quickly learn the rules.

Modern Yu-Gi-Oh! games have added complex gimmicks such as Link Summoning and Pendulum Summoning, but the appeal of the original duels was that they allowed for "intuitive and deep battles."

The ease with which anyone can enjoy it right away is probably the reason why it has been loved for so many years.

The card explanations were simpler and not as long as they are now.

Recent Yu-Gi-Oh! cards have long explanatory text, and it can take time to understand their complex effects and summoning conditions.
I think the appeal of modern times is that we can employ such complex strategies and tactics.
Of course, I have no intention of criticizing these modern Yu-Gi-Oh! cards.
Rather, they read through that lengthy text, understand its meaning, and then put it into practice in duels.
It's amazing to think that children today go through all of these steps!
It would be impossible without curiosity and memory.

On the other hand, I think the simple balance of "attack power," "defense power," and "effect" of the cards that appeared in the first game was good.
Many of the effects of trap cards, such as "Magic Cylinder" and "Sacred Barrier - Mirror Force," were intuitive and easy to understand, highlighting the tactics and psychological warfare between players.

I think it was an era when there was less of a burden to remember effects, and you could simply enjoy dueling.

Still popular today: why merchandise and media development continues

The popularity of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! has not waned even today.

Now that it's available for free on YouTube, I think the generation that watched it back in the day is getting hooked again out of nostalgia, and kids of the current generation are becoming interested in it.
Figures of the main cards from the original work, such as Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Black Magician, and God cards, are available as prizes at game centers and in Ichiban Kuji lottery.
Figures and merchandise based on "Millennium Puzzle" and "Yami Yugi" are also being released one after another.

The fact that merchandise and media development continues to this day is proof of its enduring popularity.

Love and commitment to the original work

Our store does not simply sell cards, but is run with the desire to convey "love and commitment to the original Yu-Gi-Oh!"

Based on the manga "Yu-Gi-Oh!"
Anime "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters"

By only selling cards that appear in these two works, we hope to allow you to relive the excitement and passion of that time.

Why not come and relive the original Yu-Gi-Oh! at our store?

Our store plans to stock rare cards and pre-constructed decks that appear in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters.

Whether you're experiencing Yu-Gi-Oh! for the first time or want to relive the passionate duels of the past, you're sure to find your favorite cards.

Purchases are also welcome!

And we look forward to your purchases!

Based on this management policy, our store has different standards for purchase appraisals and for determining the condition of cards than general trading card stores.

To some people, the cards that appeared in the original work may be considered "old cards that can't be used in duels."
If you don't need it, we'll buy it from you!
